The following is an edited transcript of the interview: I talked with Isaacson this week about the book and what Franklin might think of America today. The book, Benjamin Franklin: An American Life, takes an in-depth look at how the man considered one of the greatest and most accomplished of American founders helped define the kind of society America would become. His subject is the writer, philosopher and scientist Benjamin Franklin. The author is former TIME magazine and CNN executive Walter Isaacson.
